How to Enable Location for Decentralized Storage

Within this guide you are going to learn how to enable a location for decentralized storage.

Context

  • A location is going to be enabled for decentralized storage.

Steps

When a location is going to be enabled for decentralized storage, changes within both S4Hana and Matrix42 are required.

S4Hana

We assume the location to already be created within the system. If not, create the location within at least the plant 1010.

After the location was created within S4Hana, it is to be added to all the products it is going to store. This can achieved in two separate ways.

  1. You can register the initial quantities of the products within the location.
  2. You can use the Manage Product Master Data app to add the location to all the products it is going to store in future.
    1. Within the product navigate to the plants tab of the products.image.png
    2. Within the product plant 1010 navigate to the storage locations tab.
    3. Add the desired location to the list of storage locations for the product. Important, any storage location marked for deletion is not going to be viewed as a valid storage location within the processing system.image.png

Matrix42

We assume the location to already be created within the system. If not, create the location.

Within Matrix42 navgiate into Master Data, Organization Structure and then Locations.

Select the location you want to configure for decentralized storage.

  1. Assert the correct SAP Location Id to be present.
  2. Assert the valid Country to be configured within the location.image.png
  3. Add all the responsible people for the location. They are then allowed to make orders of type Company containing only storable products to one of their managed locations.
